by Sean Orr | Giving Translink a run for their money: CP Rail refuses to pay for Lac-Mégantic clean-up. It’s worth keeping in mind that CP’s Hunter Harrison is the highest paid CEO in Canada…

Meanwhile, BC Ferries executives see salaries and perks boosted. Wow. Even the guy who gives out the raises gets a raise.

BC Hydro’s electricity trading subsidiary Powerex has agreed to pay California $750 million so that they don’t get sued for doing absolutely nothing wrong. I’m not super good at math so I had a few rolling brownouts just trying to make sense of that article.

Non-Onion article of the day: Canadian Forces Test Stealth Snowmobile.

Not to point any fingers, but: Police investigating if Cuchillo restaurant vandalism linked to Downtown Eastside anti-gentrification protests. “Unless they get some suspect information that would directly link them, there is no way for us at this point to link them”. So we’re just going to go ahead and link them via pure speculation.

Metro’s economy riding on TransLink funding referendum. “No one has any idea how this referendum will be structured, who will organize it (“Not us,” say the mayors), what funding options will be on the ballot, what projects will be built – or not – because of it, what the question(s) will be or how much public funding – if any – is available to support which sides”. Ugh. Better make it a “no” question because that is what everyone is going to vote for when they find out that Translink wants money. I suggest something like: “Do you not want to explore new funding models?”

Traitor Joe’s: Trader Joe’s drags a pirate to court. Never mind that. What is this guy’s carbon footprint!?

Good vibrations: Music lover donating 4,000 CDs to hospital.
